This project aims to help the poor and ethnic minority children in Yunnan access high-quality primary school education by training teachers on child centered teaching skills and positive classroom management in 10 project schools.
The project will develop a life skills curriculum and provide training for students to improve their self-confidence, adaptability to school life and motivation to learn.
Relevant experience and best practices from the Hempel Foundation funded projects in Xinjiang and Shanghai will be applied. The project will also engage and train parents to support their children’s education.
Eventually, this project aims to support the government’s efforts in introducing an effective and long-term policy to improve the quality of basic education in poor and ethnic minority areas in Yunnan, in order to create a sustainable impact.
