During the Skoll World Forum week in Oxford on April 3, the Hempel Foundation is hosting a live event together with Global Schools Forum.

With the world facing urgent learning and biodiversity crises, cross-sector learning is more critical than ever. Specialised NGOs play a key role in providing the solutions critically needed - yet they face major barriers to scaling their impact. Many organisations lack the platforms, support, and visibility to share knowledge and scale what works — limiting their reach and long-term effectiveness.

At the Hempel Foundation, we believe that achieving transformative change in education and biodiversity conservation requires more than strong programmes- it takes collective action, long-term investment in organisational development, and spaces for meaningful exchange.

That’s why we’re co-hosting this event - to bring together education entrepreneurs, NGOs, funders, and ecosystem leaders to explore what it truly takes to achieve lasting impact at scale in low- and middle-income countries.

Impact at Scale
Scaling impact is an exciting yet complex journey that demands bold investment, strategic foresight, and strong organisational foundations. This event will bring together leading voices to explore practical pathways for scaling education and biodiversity conservation solutions in low- and middle-income countries.

Bringing together insights from the Global Schools Forum and Maliasili as well as funders’ perspectives from the Hempel Foundation and Gates Foundation, we will dive into key enablers of scale—including strategic capacity-building, innovative financing models and high-impact partnerships.

The session will present evidence of growing organisational impact featuring the leading education organisations Peepul, Building Tomorrow, and VVOB.

Through these expert insights and actionable takeaways, attendees will gain practical strategies to navigate the challenges of scaling—whether it’s securing funding, aligning with government systems, or leveraging data to track impact and drive continuous improvement.
